American Contract Bridge League
Company Profile: - The American Contract Bridge League was founded in 1937. Today it is the largest bridge organization in the world, with more than 160,000 members living in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Bermuda. A not-for-profit organization, the ACBL determines internationally recognized rules of bridge, sanctions clubs and tournament games, and encourages participation at all levels of proficiency and experience.
- The ACBL sponsors three North American Bridge Championships, sanctions approximately 1100 bridge tournaments annually, publishes laws of duplicate and rubber bridge and ranks players by awarding masterpoints. It serves as an arbitrator in controversies over play of the game. The ACBL is affiliated with the World Bridge Federation and cooperates with other organizations in countries around the world to promote the game of bridge and standardize the rules of play.
- The ACBL promotes games at club, unit, district and national levels. It publishes a monthly magazine, the Bridge Bulletin, and sells a wide variety of bridge products and books. The ACBL trains and certifies teachers, publishes teaching manuals and supports the activities of more than 3200 bridge clubs.
- Headquartered in Horn Lake, MS., the ACBL employs more than 200 full-time and part-time employees nation-wide. The full-time employees are offered benefits which include group health insurance, group life and accidental death or dismemberment insurance, cafeteria plan, 401(k) retirement plan, educational assistance, employee assistance programs (EAPs), free membership in the ACBL.
