Exploration Place
Exploration Place, opening April 1, 2000, offers visitors of all ages interactive environments, hands-on experiences, high-tech theaters, imaginative spaces and outdoor recreation, all located on a 20-acre site along the scenic Arkansas River in downtown Wichita.
The 98,500 square foot building has been designed by internationally acclaimed architect Moshe Safdie of Boston. The $62 million project is funded through a public private partnership which includes Sedgwick County, the City of Wichita and numerous private sector donors. To date, approximately 95% of the funds have been raised to complete the project. Groundbreaking took place in May, 1997.
