Our Philosophy
The Ramas have established a corporate culture of openness, democracy, integrity, and harmony that is influenced by Eastern and Western philosophies. JHM has cultivated a professional environment, which stems from the Indian roots of the company's founding family that supports the mind, body and spirit of its associates, partners, clients, and management team.
Global citizenship and sharing are central to the JHM values, as well. The Rama family has supported Indian communities by building a school, installing a water purification plant and designing/developing a Children's Park and Eye Hospital.
Additionally, the Ramas are honored to have been able to contribute over $1 million to scholarship funds. These funds have provided opportunities for Asian and minority students at 14 of the top hospitality management schools in the United States.

The humble beginnings of JHM Hotels began over 30 years ago. It is truly the realization of the American dream for an American family of Asian Indian origin. H.P. Rama came to the U.S. in 1973 to complete his post graduate engineering studies at California State Polytechnic University. However, he was highly interested in the lodging industry. H.P. bought a 40-room independent motel in Pomona, California while attending night classes and holding a job as a dishwasher.
His brothers soon joined him to create a family business that has since grown to be among the top 50 hotel management companies in the world. This family business now owns and operates 28 hotels, representing various franchises, with over 4,000 rooms in five states. Several more properties are under development and scheduled in the near future. JHM also owns and operates a five-star hotel in Surat, India.
During the incredible three-decade journey, the Ramas earned rich and varied experiences in every sphere and facet of modern hotel development and management. The lessons learned provided the foundation of the JHM mission: the actualization of service, commitment, satisfaction, and perfection
JHM's current success is a result of the past hard work, commitment, and spiritual strength of the Rama family. They have been able to create a large, growing, premier lodging company that now employs over 1,000 associates and provides financial strength and stability to shareholders.
