Methodist Children's Home

Our mission is to express God's love by providing superior services that protect, support, and enhance the lives of children, youth and their families.

Methodist Children's Home, founded in 1890, is a non-profit child care ministry affiliated with the seven United Methodist Conferences of Texas and New Mexico. Once an orphanage, the Home has developed into a multifaceted program with a residential campus, a Boys Ranch, foster family care and a college program.

Located on 130 acres in Waco, Texas, Methodist Children's Home cares for more than 300 children daily who have been neglected, abused, have behavioral problems or are in need of supervision and structure. We do not take custody of children, but rather work to reunite families.

The Home helps families by providing a safe place for children to live while families deal with problems such as family conflict, school difficulties, family illness, and financial or drug/alcohol problems. MCH stands ready to help families regardless of financial or religious background.

How is one admitted?

Families may receive services by calling Methodist Children's Home directly or through referrals from ministers, other counselors, social workers or psychologists who are familiar with the child/family situation. Staff in the Methodist Children's Home outreach offices (located in Dallas, Houston, Lubbock, San Antonio and Albuquerque) can also help with referrals.

When a call is made and a brief description of the situation is given, an application packet is sent to the family, with additional information about MCH. An interview with the child/family will likely follow.
For More Information About The Admissions Process Please Call Our Admissions Office At 1-800-964-9226.

Are we accredited and licensed?

Methodist Children's Home is proud to be recognized, licensed and accredited by the following organizations:
Alliance For Families and Children, United Methodist Association of Health and Welfare Ministries, Council on Accreditation of Services and Families for Children, United Methodist EAGLE program, Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services, and the New Mexico Department of Child Protective Services.

How Are We Funded?

MCH solicits charitable gifts in order to provide the highest possible quality in child care. One of the most significant sources of revenue is the Christmas offering taken up each December in the United Methodist churches in Texas and New Mexico. Friends have provided gifts of property or cash contributions in the form of memorials and bequests. Others have remembered MCH in their wills. These gifts become part of the permanent endowment fund.
