Miami-Jacobs is Dayton's oldest college. Centrally located downtown, the college has been serving the needs of the area's employers and students since 1860.

Objectives
In support of this mission, The College has established the following objectives:
- Deliver the foundation knowledge, skills, and information through active, authentic, portfolio, and competency based methods, in order to prepare graduates for initial employment.
- Prepare students to be promoted to positions of increasing responsibility throughout their careers.
- Assist the student in developing the personal qualities and the ability to demonstrate the interest, motivation, and effort, that foster success in the classroom and professional environments.
- Provide student services to support the students' vocational and personal needs.
- Provide job and career search assistance through classroom preparation in job search strategies, as well as practical job experience.
- Encourage professional development, continuing education, and certification for faculty through in-service education, participation in professional organizations and attendance at professional conferences and seminars.
