RYKO Manufacturing Company is a privately owned corporation that began in business on May 1, 1973. The owners of the corporation had been involved in the sale, installation, and service of car wash equipment since 1970. In the early 70's, the founders of RYKO decided to develop and manufacture car wash equipment capable of operating completely automatically.
By August 1973, the fledging company was in the process of manufacturing its first all-aluminum automatic car wash. The Company employed four people, including the founders, and was capable of producing one new car wash each sixty days. By December of 1973, it became apparent that the Company's product had the potential for significant growth. By year-end, the Company grew to twenty-one employees and had manufactured as many as five car wash machines during peak production months.
With an aggressive Engineering and Marketing approach, sales continued to increase. In addition, the Company began the process of establishing RYKO distributors to enable the Company's products to be marketed nationwide. From 1975 to 1984, the Company's employment grew tenfold, a number of new products were added, and monthly production levels of automatic car wash equipment continued to increase.
During the summer of 1983, after many months of research, RYKO purchased a brick manufacturing factory with approximately 150,000 square feet of space and 30 acres of land. After much renovation, RYKO's equipment and personnel moved to its current location in Grimes, Iowa on April 28, 1984. Since moving to the new headquarters, construction has been completed on several additions to accommodate increased manufacturing, office, and personnel needs.
RYKO Manufacturing Company has grown to be the largest manufacturer of vehicle wash systems in the United States. Our product lines include many models of automatic car wash systems, drive-thru's, and conveyors. RYKO also manufactures vacuums, dryers, self-service systems, bus wash equipment, truck wash equipment, and many accessories. RYKO products are marketed not only domestically but also in many countries throughout the world. In fact, RYKO is now recognized as an industry leader in the International market.
