While our name is S&S Screw Machine Company, LLC, our business has evolved to a point where screw machine products are only a portion of our product offering.
S&S Screw Machine boasts CNC lathes and milling machines, plus a wide variety of grinding, welding, milling, and thread rolling equipment. Now that these processes are augmented with Precision Grinding's fabrication and powder coat capabilities, we have a very wide range of capabilities to fill your machining and fabrication needs.

OUR COMPANY HISTORY
S&S Screw Machine Company, was founded in the early 1970’s in Southern California by Reed Welch. As the business grew, Mr. Welch moved S&S Screw Machine Company to Cookeville, TN, and then in 1984 to its present location in Sparta, Tennessee.
When Mr. Welch decided to retire, two friends and former business associates, Bill Cole and Larry Battle, successfully negotiated the acquisition of the business in March of 2004. Between them, Battle and Cole have built a dozen successful manufacturing and distribution businesses, and they brought a new level of energy, creativity and professionalism to an already excellent company.
In 2005, when the opportunity arose to expand the business into the areas of fabrication and powder coating, the partners acquired Precision Grinding and Machine of Paris, TN.
The equipment and capabilities obtained with this recent acquisition add exponentially to the ability of S&S – Precision to meet and exceed the metal machining and fabrication needs of our customer base. The small screw-machine oriented operation which started out with only a handful of employees has evolved into a modern, professional company with a very broad range of capabilities in machining, fabrication and coating and provides jobs for 150 talented and hard-working people.
Our customer base includes World Class companies from a dozen different industries, and we have the capability, expertise, and attention to detail and service to help you solve your most pressing needs for machine parts.
