We have three core operations at Temple-Inland - corrugated packaging, forest products and financial services. While each of our operations serves a different market, our markets are all significant and growing.
Corrugated shipments have experienced a steady trendline growth of approximately 2.5 percent over the past 20 years. This trend, coupled with the fact that industry containerboard capacity has declined in recent years and very little new capacity is anticipated, positions this grade well for the future.
The demand for forest products is driven by new housing and repair and remodeling markets. These markets are projected to continue to grow due to an increase in homeownership rates resulting from demographic trends, including aging of the baby boomers, a fast growing minority population and an increase in immigrants.
In financial services, we are pursuing a high touch, high service strategy. Customers who value high touch make up the largest segment of the financial services market in terms of dollars. We believe this portion of the market is poised for growth with the aging of the baby boomers.
We intend to capitalize on each of our markets by bringing the greatest value to customers through quality products and high levels of service. As part of this effort, we are pursuing the benefits of technology and e-commerce. Each of our three businesses is implementing new systems that will provide a foundation for better managing relationships and interactions with customers and will facilitate our ability to take full advantage of e-commerce.

Temple - Inland Inc. is a diversified company with operations in corrugated packaging, forest products and financial services. Its principal operations include:
- Produces containerboard and a complete line of corrugated containers, including shipping boxes, retail packaging and point-of-purchase displays.
- Manufactures a wide range of building products, including lumber, particleboard, medium density fiberboard, gypsum wallboard and fiberboard.
- Consists of savings bank activities, mortgage banking, real estate and insurance brokerage.
