Temp Systems, Inc. is a full-line, non-franchise, personnel staffing service offering professional, administrative, technical and industrial
personnel to firms in East Tennessee. Temp Systems, Inc. was founded in 1986 by Norma Owens, President/CEO and is certified as a woman owned business by Women's Business Enterprise National Council. (WBENC) After twenty-three years of successful growth she presents a perfect example of American entrepreneurship. This start up company is unique as the only woman owned staffing company in the area that is non-franchised and is directed by the original owner for over 23 years.
Our company provides state-of-the-art ProveIT computerized evaluation and training on all software programs for employees in fulfilling contracts with East Tennessee employers.The training is offered at no cost for qualified employees. These continuously updated programs train and evaluate over 800 classifications including :

Outsourcing and on-site facilitator management are regular quality professional services provided to clients. Using a team approach, Temp Systems's experienced staff actively and continually recruits and selects personnel to meet client needs. Applicants are qualified through full screening, reference checking and drug testing for maximum benefit to the client companies success. Temp System's custom computerized system allows quick response in evaluating the experience and education of applicants to fulfill employer requests for personnel on a short-term, long-term, temp-to-hire or direct-hire basis. Our company also provides "Q" and "L" cleared employees to federal government contractors. Temp Systems was the first personnel staffing service in the area to establish an Internet Website.
In 1992, Ms. Owens formed another company, TSI Industrial, Inc., the industrial division of Temp Systems. Each day hundreds of Temp Systems and TSI employees go to work in the offices and plants of East Tennessee to include the largest firms with which the company maintains continuing contracts.
Also in 1992, Temp Systems was awarded the prestigious "Woman Owned Business of the Year Award" by Martin Marietta Energy Systems, Inc. for outstanding support performance of the clerical contract. Ten years later in April 2002, the company was presented the same Award by BWXT Y-12 LLC.
In 2005, a new Prove IT! Call Center evaluation system for employer call centers was installed in the testing center. The system provides a quick objective way to measure an applicant's call center skills before the individual is sent to the employer. Tests simulate real phone call scenarios to give applicants a realistic preview of call center tasks. The system identifies candidates who are comfortable in the computer environment and have superior customer service skills.
In early 2001, an Information Technology Division was created in the company to assist clients. The Technology Division staff sets up and custom develops database solutions, works with existing hardware/software and provides complete turnkey solutions. The division's capabilities include supporting, maintaining and upgrading hardware/software, and setting up and maintaining client web sites or private Intra nets. Greg Pratt, IT Manager, and his staff currently maintain & design websites for many of the premier companies and non-profit agencies in the area.
Temp Systems maintains an office in Knoxville and another in Anderson County in Oak Ridge. The corporate office is located at 1378 Papermill Pointe Way, West Knoxville.
The Oak Ridge office opened in 1994 and experienced immediate growth. In 1997, that office moved to 62 Mitchell Road to gain greater office space and accommodate the increasing operation. All offices are computerized and networked to provide greater efficiency in fulfilling job requirements.
Ms. Owens and the key staff members of each office are heavily involved as volunteers in the civic, cultural and business activities of the communities served by the company. Ms Owens is past chairman of the Board of Directors for Anderson County Chamber of Commerce. She is past chair and currently Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Better Business Bureau of East Tennessee.
Temp Systems assists in stabilizing a firm's operations and maintaining its quality service and/or production when employees are needed due to turnover, medical leaves, vacations, peak times, company expansions and special projects. The company is committed to providing top quality service to clients on a customized basis.
