Treasure Island Resort & Casino

Treasure Island Resort & Casino

Treasure Island Resort & Casino is nestled amidst the scenic bluffs of the Mississippi River Valley on the rolling prairies of southeastern Minnesota.

Located minutes south of Hastings, the Island has become the Midwest's tropical getaway, featuring nationally acclaimed entertainment, four-star hotel accommodations, a marina, Spirit of the Water - our 150-passenger cruise ship - an RV park, and casino gaming. All less than 35 minutes south of the Minneapolis/Saint Paul International Airport.

HISTORY

Bingo Hall
Treasure Island Resort & Casino began as a one-room bingo operation in February 1984. Today, Treasure Island is one of the finest and most comprehensive casinos in the Midwest.

Casino
With the enactment of the 1988 Federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, tribal enterprises such as Treasure Island were allowed to expand the types of games offered. In January of 1990, we added 250 slot machines and eight blackjack tables.

Expansion
In June of 1993 we expanded the gaming floor to provide an area for 200 new slot machines and a wide array of customer amenities. Tradewinds Buffet and Java's Restaurant, a full-service dining room, opened with a combined seating capacity of 365 people. Toucan Harry's sports bar also began operation with seating for over a hundred and video slots. Other amenities in conjunction with the 1993 expansion included valet parking, a 32,000-square-foot state-of-the-art kitchen, a gift shop, a player's club guest-service area, several meeting rooms, a large ballroom and a hall for live entertainment.

Marina and RV Park
1994 was another exciting year at Treasure Island as it marked the opening of the casino's beautiful 137-slip marina on Sturgeon Lake, a finger of the Mississippi River. The marina accepts boats up to 190 feet in length and is equipped with a ship's store and fuel. In 1994, Treasure Island also added an RV park that accommodates up to 95 recreational vehicles with hookups for water, sewage and electricity.

New Look and Luxury Hotel
Treasure Island saw more change in 1996, when the casino spent $20 million on a new look, adding a 40-foot waterfall to the front entrance of the casino and a 250-room luxury hotel. Moreover, the business changed its name to Treasure Island Resort & Casino to reflect its new image as a resort destination.

Spirit of the Water
To further enhance the resort, Treasure Island purchased a 120-passenger luxury cruise yacht, Spirit of the Water, in July of 1999. Guests can now enjoy brunch, lunch and dinner cruises on the Mississippi River. Moreover, guests can reserve the boat for private functions and meetings.

Mt. Frontenac Golf
In March 2000 we added Mt. Frontenac Golf Course to our recreation choices. This 18-hole course is located on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River Valley and is considered one of the most scenic courses in Minnesota.

Destination
Today Treasure Island Resort & Casino is truly a resort destination. We offer some of the best gaming, accommodations, food service and nationally known entertainment in the casino industry. Treasure Island features more than 2,500 slots and 44 blackjack tables, high-stakes bingo in the 550-seat Island Bingo Hall, and one of the largest non-smoking casino areas in the Midwest. Our guests can relax in the luxurious 250-room hotel, dine in one of our five restaurants, enjoy a cruise on Spirit of the Water, or visit Mt. Frontenac Golf for recreation.
