WSI - Oak Ridge

• Wackenhut Services, Inc. (WSI) provides contract services to federal, state, and municipal agencies throughout the United States. The services range from security and fire services to aviation support, facility management, diversified training services, and more.
• WSI has operations at 70 contract/project sites in 20 states and the District of Columbia. The company is the largest provider of security-related services to the U.S. Federal government and partners with many of the agencies and organizations responsible for key elements of the government’s role in national defense, homeland security, space exploration, the safeguarding of nuclear materials, and public safety.

• At Oak Ridge, Tennessee, WSI is contracted by DOE and the National Nuclear Security Administration to provide security services for the 33,725 acre Oak Ridge Reservation, including the Y-12 National Security Complex, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the East Tennessee Technology Park, and the Federal Office Building Complex.
• WSI employs nearly 1000 total personnel in Oak Ridge.
• WSI was awarded the 2003 Tennessee Center for Performance Excellence Achievement Award. WSI was one of only eight organizations in the State of Tennessee recognized by this advanced level quality award.
• WSI’s Oak Ridge Team has been recognized with three awards from the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve for contributing to national security and protecting liberty and freedom by supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force –the Above and Beyond Award, the Patriotic Employer Award, and the 5-Star Award.
• WSI was the first employer in the State of Tennessee to receive the 5-Star Award, awarded by the Department of Defense to only 1/10 of 1% of the employers in the U.S. for their support to Reserve Components of the U.S. military.
