Wells Manufacturing L.P., a business unit of United Components Inc., is a leading marketer/manufacturer of quality automotive engine performance components. Wells' reputation for consistent high quality and competitive pricing has enabled us to successfully supply automakers, engine manufacturers, and the automotive aftermarket. Our product line includes sensors, ignition systems, emissions control systems, switches, spark plug wire sets, fuel systems and charging systems. The WELLS brand of auto parts is sold throughout the North America aftermarket. Our corporate offices are located in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. We also have two manufacturing plants in Fond du Lac. Additional facilities are located in Centerville, Iowa, McAllen, Texas and Reynosa, Mexico.
Wells was founded by Robert Wells in 1903. Our long and successful history of producing quality automotive parts began with Wells supplying ignition coils to Ford for the original Model "T". From successfully supplying OEMs, Wells turned to supplying the aftermarket. As the first AWDA manufacturing affiliate member, Wells helped shape the automotive aftermarket and then revolutionized it with the industry's first visual packaging of ignition parts. In the 80's Wells was the first in the aftermarket to introduce bar coding on all of its packaging. Our current cataloging offers more than 30,000 components in automotive, truck, marine and agricultural applications.
Today, engine performance components play a vital role in limiting auto emissions. To accomplish this goal, modern vehicles rely on an increasing number of electro-mechanical and electronic engine performance components. Wells has met this challenge with a state-of-the-art electronics manufacturing facility utilizing advanced manufacturing processes with robotics and other precision machinery that rivals those of the largest auto makers.
At Wells the quest for excellence is a team effort. This effort has allowed us to achieve TS 16949 and ISO 14000 certification at all of our facilities; the first full line ignition manufacturer to achieve this status. We believe this achievement recognizes the commitment that Wells and our employees have to our products and our customers.
