Plant Manager

Job Location: Southeast Region

Department: Production

Reports To:
VP, Operations/Raw Product
VP, Corporate Services

Summary:
Directs activities of facility in processing and manufacturing canned or frozen vegetables by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reviews production schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan operations with the input of Corporate Office personnel.

Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meet specifications. Coordinates these activities with input from Corporate Office.

Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, warehouse, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.

Implements and follows all policies and procedures of the organization.

Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.

Oversees all safety requirements within plant to ensure compliance with OSHA, state and federal regulations as they pertain to the food industry.

Coordinates all aspects of production to be cost-effective and as economical as possible.

Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages five or more subordinate supervisors who supervise fifty or more employees in the Production, Wastewater, Safety, Human Resources, Sanitation, Maintenance, and Warehouse Departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); college degree preferred. Five or more years related experience and/or training in canned or frozen foods; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
