Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a MS degree in immunology, virology, microbiology, molecular biology, or a related discipline with at least six years of relevant and productive experience in assay validation, vaccinology or a closely related field
Ph.D. preferred in immunology, virology, microbiology or a related discipline with at least two years of relevant work experience
Excellent knowledge of standard requirements for vet. biologics as stated by 9CFR, EP, & VICH
Demonstrated experience in assay development and validation in compliance with guidelines of 9CFR, EP, and VICH
Working knowledge of Biological R&D and QC operation and testing methods in vaccinology
Hands-on technical skills in immunology, virology, microbiology, or molecular biology
Excellent written, interpersonal skills and communication skills required
Advanced computer skills with experience in data manipulation using various software packages
Ability to work effectively in a team setting QC environment
Excellent knowledge of statistics and statistical programs
Ability to train and work closely with union personnel
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop, validate, and implement new BioQC methods including immunoassay, virological, microbiological and molecular biological assays
Facilitate or perform interdepartmental assay transfer validation and implementation
Act as an internal expert in bioanalytical assay and provide scientifically and technically sound evaluation and support of assay performance and trouble shooting
Be responsible for evaluating and bringing new technology and instrumentation to the Department of BioQC
Serve as a backup to departmental group leader
Prepare assay development and validation protocols, reports, SOPs, special outlines, and Outline of Production
Ensures that all testing methodologies used are in accordance with the appropriate regulatory requirements
Prepare and qualify new reagents and references to support all assay needs in the Department of BioQC
Reviews and approves staff and laboratory specialist data
Supervise and train staff and union specialists in new technologies if applicable
