If you are ready to do real police work in a busy department, then you need to consider becoming a Police Officer with the Greeley Police Department. Greeley has a population of 90,000 and the police department has 146 sworn officers.

2009 SALARY:
$46,588 (non_certified)
$50,794 - $55,982 POST certified ($70,210 range maximum)

The Greeley Police Department will be accepting applications and testing for the position of Police Officer throughout 2008. Completed applications MUST be received by October 24 in order to test on October 30.

Candidates do not need POST certification. We anticipate hiring as many as seven officers from the upcoming testing process and will send selected candidates to POST academy beginning January 12, 2009
POST certified candidates are also encouraged to apply.

The POLICE OFFICER Application is available on the employment page of the City’s website at www.greeleygov.com/hr . The application must be completed in its entirety. (NOTE: This is a different application than the general City application) and must be either mailed via US Postal Service or hand-delivered to Human Resources, City of Greeley, 1000 10th Street, Greeley, CO 80631. E-mailed or faxed applications will not be accepted.

The Essential Functions Test (EFT) and written examination are pass/fail. You must receive a passing score in each component of the written test (Math, Reading Comprehension, and Grammar) in order to continue in the process.

Applicants are eligible for the following priority points:
Education:
Spanish/English Bilingual (Based upon level of fluency)
AA degree (or 2 years of college) or higher

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record;
  • Must be a United States citizen;
  • High School diploma or GED;
  • Be in good physical condition;
  • Have vision of or correctable to 20/20;
  • No felony convictions or conviction involving moral turpitude;
  • Spanish/English bilingual skills highly desired.
  • Experience in law enforcement or related field highly desired.
