Position Status/Number of Vacancy:

Duties:
Performs diagnostic, corrective, restorative, preventive and operative Podiatry as well as associated prosthetic work. Administers a full range of Podiatry services to active duty and retired military personnel and their family members throughout the serviced area. Specialties include Podogeriatrics and Podopediatrics. Diagnoses podiatry diseases and health problems requiring corrective, restorative or preventive measures. Treats dermatological manifestations and disorders of the foot and ankle. Refers circulatory manifestations, such as Raynauds Disease and Buergers Disease. Administers local anesthetics for and performs such surgical procedures as removal of toenails, subdermal epidermoid cysts and foreign bodies. Performs surgical procedures of the forefoot and hindfoot under general anesthesia, if necessary, including but not limited to bunionectomies, neuromas, arthroplasty and ORIF of fractures. Assists orthopedic surgeon in operative procedures on request.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION/TRAINING: Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.) from a school of podiatric medicine accredited by the Council on Podiatric Medical Evaluation in the year in which the degree was granted.

You MUST indicate the year of your degree(s), number of hours, the overall GPA for your undergraduate course work, the name of the university or college, the type of degree and major course of study.

LICENSE: Applicants must be currently licensed to practice podiatric medicine in one of the States, the District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico. You MUST indicate the type of license and state in which it is currently active.

This vacancy announcement will be used to develop an inventory of applications to fill civilian Podiatry vacancies with the Department of Army as they occur through December 2004.

* All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification Current Advanced Life Support of other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
* Documentation to support Military Spouse Preference needs to be submitted at time of application.
* Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
* Direct Deposit of Pay is Required.
