SUMMARY:
Organizes and conducts medically prescribed physical therapy services for inpatients and outpatients, primarily dealing with wounds, to restore function, prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of a body part, improve wound healing and assist the patient in reaching his/her maximum possible level of functioning to assume a place in society while learning to live within the limits of their disability. Innovations improve work procedures and methods and primarily result in some time and cost savings. The job duties are to provide evaluations and treatments of patients primarily with wounds that involve some invasive procedures. Communications are required inside and outside the work group to resolve mutual problems and to collaborate on work procedures. Communication with external contacts is for the provision of on-going service and handling of routine transactions, frequently detailed information. Is responsible for ensuring that satisfaction and service to internal and external contacts is maintained.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science, Masters Degree or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited program. Minimum of three (3) years experience in Physical Therapy, with at least one (1) year of wound care experience required. Certified Wound Specialist (CSW) or Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing (WOCN) certification preferred. Certification required within five (5) years of assuming role. Passed the Maryland Physical Therapy Boards for licensure. Ability to communicate with patients, family members, and other Hospital personnel. Familiarity with hospital policies and procedures. Must have current or temporary license as a physical therapist in the State of Maryland. Must maintain current CPR certification. Must pass all hospital competencies required for the position. CWS certification preferred and encouraged.
