Job Summary:
Performs diagnostic and procedural coding of all inpatient service diagnoses and conditions, working from the appropriate documentation in the health record of the patient. Classification systems include ICD-9-CM and CPT-4, for the purpose of data collection, research, regulatory compliance and financial reimbursement in accordance with national and hospital-specific coding guidelines. Provides support for Ambulatory Surgery coding function. Maintains applicable productivity and quality standards and performs these functions in a timely manner to facilitate effective and efficient data submission.
REQUIREMENTS:
Certifications from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as either a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred, Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required. Must have a minimum of 2 years Inpatient coding experience in an acute care setting.
