Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements: The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include a two-year Technical-Trade School certificate specializing in HVAC - part of the formal training required may be substituted with years of work experience. The requirements for this position also include EPA Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification; proven work experience and knowledge in HVAC maintenance and troubleshooting proven knowledge and maintenance experience with the following components of HVAC: various types of chillers, digital controls, and pneumatic controls, motor controls and speed drives, cooling towers, chilled water loop systems and chemical treatment, chilled and hot water pumps, ice machines, coolers and refrigeration equipment, hot water boilers and air compressors; must possess a basic understanding of electrical servicing and wiring of all HVAC components; proven ability to read, interpret, and understand building mechanical blue prints and specifications; a valid Florida Drivers License; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to work well with and relate to co-workers and other IRSC faculty, staff members, and students, sometimes under stressful conditions; must possess self motivation and initiative; and have the ability to work with minimal supervision. This position also requires knowledge of the proper and safe use of maintenance power tools and electrical equipment. Five (5) years documented recent work experience in the HVAC field as well as experience with fire alarm systems, indoor air quality remediation and HVAC test and balance procedures is preferred. An Associates degree is also preferred.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: completing general maintenance tasks and repairs of a routine nature; having an understanding of the accepted repair practices of the various skilled trades; maintaining all routine air conditioning repairs and associated problems as well as filter service; responsibilities also include working on other maintenance jobs and areas of the College activities and priorities may require; and must understand and follow safe work procedures and techniques. Minor mechanical knowledge is also required.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities: The specific responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Performing all routine maintenance and repairs which consists of changing filters; calibrating thermostats; replacing motors, pumps and compressors; repairing grills and ducts; changing belts and pulleys; repairing air control components and electrical components; performing routine and preventative maintenance tasks as well as troubleshooting HVAC system malfunctions; responsible for working with minimal supervision; and maintaining the preventative maintenance program and equipment service files through data entry. This position may require routine off site repairs. Additional duties include setting up chairs and tables for all classes and special events; offering suggestions for improvement of Campus maintenance; and any and all other duties as assigned. Additional evening and weekend hours may be required.
Essential Physical Skills: This position requires an ability to walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, use ladders and other equipment, the ability to work in confined spaces above ceilings, and carry items occasionally in excess of (50) pounds. The employee must be in good physical condition in order to do the type of work required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.

Transcripts
Photocopies of transcripts are required to apply. If you are selected for an interview, you will be asked to have official transcripts sent. Official transcripts are required in order to issue the IRSC Teaching Certificate. To be considered "official", these transcripts must be received by IRSC directly from the institution attended. Three Letters of Recommendation
Professional letters are preferred with personal letters acceptable. You can provide these with your application or request that your recommenders mail them directly to the Human Resources Office/Employment at the Main Campus, Fort Pierce.
One-Year Work Verification Form/Letter
This form can be downloaded from the IRSC Human Resources website or will be included in the application packet picked up in the Office of Human Resources at the Main Campus, Fort Pierce. This form can be used as one of your three letters of recommendation. You can provide a letter in lieu of this form as long as the letter is on company letterhead and includes the following information: job title, dates of employment, and specific responsibilities as they relate to the discipline(s) you are requesting to teach.
Interview Process
Individuals selected will be contacted by telephone or letter to arrange for an interview. After the interviewing process is completed, you will be contacted concerning any missing documents necessary for issuing the IRSC Teaching Certification.
Teaching Certification
All IRCC full-time and part-time (Adjunct) faculty are required to be certified by IRSC in the discipline/subject taught. This certificate will specify each discipline and the level at which it may be taught, date of issue, and expiration date. It will be issued by the Vice President of Instructional Services with the original going to the employee and a copy being placed in the employee's personnel file.
The levels to be certified at and the minimum qualifications are as follows:
Baccalaureate (Credit): Requires a Master's degree in the discipline; or any Master's degree with eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in the field being taught. In addition, some disciplines may require a terminal degree.
Pre-baccalaureate (Credit): Requires a Master's degree in the discipline; or any Master's degree with eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in the field being taught.
Technical Specialty (Credit): Requires one-year's experience working in the area of specialization to be taught and at least an A.A., A.S. or A.A.S. degree.
College Prep Certification: Requires a Bachelor's degree in the discipline related to the teaching assignment and either teaching experience in a discipline related to the assignment or graduate training in remedial education.
College Prep English: Baccalaureate degree or higher in English Literature, Language Arts, Journalism, or English-related Education degree, with appropriate teaching experience.
College Prep Mathematics: Baccalaureate degree or higher in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Statistics or Business, Business Education, Natural Sciences, Natural Sciences Education, Computer Science, Computer Science Education or Engineering with substantial Mathematics course work through Calculus, with appropriate teaching experience.
College Prep Reading: Baccalaureate degree or higher in Reading, Broadcasting or Journalism, Literature, Language Arts, or Reading related Education degree, with appropriate teaching experience.
Adult Education (Non-Credit): Requires a Bachelor's degree and attributes or experiences, which help instructors to relate to the particular needs of the adults they teach.
Other Non-College Credit Courses: Instructor must have sufficient combined education/training and work experience in the area of specialization to prove expertise.
Background Checks
Employment may be contingent and probationary pending fingerprint and background clearances, which will include criminal convictions, and may include consumer credit, motor vehicle driving, and other reports. A processing fee of $15 will be charged at the time of fingerprinting.
