Montgomery College is a public, open admissions community college with campuses in Germantown, Rockville, and Takoma Park/Silver Spring, plus workforce development/continuing education centers and off-site programs throughout Montgomery County, Md. The College serves more than 55,000 students a year, through both credit and noncredit programs, in more than 100 areas of study.
The Homer Gudelsky Institute for Technical Education (GITE) located on the Rockville Campus supports technical education offering classroom and laboratory settings where students may pursue an Associates Degree and/or certificates of completion. Programs offered include: Automotive Technology, Building and Construction Technology, Computer Publishing and Printing Management. GITE also offers career-focused Workforce Technology Programs in partnership with local industry.
Montgomery College, is seeking to compile a database of qualified candidates for part-time teaching opportunities. This applicant pool will remain online and provides the ability for the college to locate interested part-time faculty based on student enrollment needs.
Each semester's employment of a part-time faculty member is dependent upon the needs of the College and available funds.
Part-time faculty at Montgomery College may teach no more than 10 ESH (equivalent student hours) per semester or 20 ESH per academic year.
Each part-time faculty member is contracted for one semester at a time.
Part-time faculty are paid biweekly throughout the semester.

Montgomery College's Automotive Department, a Master NATEF Certified Automotive Program, is currently seeking a results oriented person to teach Automatic Transmissions / Transaxles and Manual Drive Train and Axles. The start date for this position is, September 5th 2007.
Part-time Faculty- Automotive Technology Faculty - GITE -Rockville Campus
Summary of Part-Faculty Responsibilities (Automotive Department):
Applicants for teaching assignments are expected to have strong communication skills. The primary responsibilities of the faculty are to teach and develop the curriculum. To meet these responsibilities, faculty must remain knowledgeable about advances in their teaching discipline. Ongoing professional development is expected. Work experience in the automotive field is a must.
Responsibilities:
Plan course instruction based on approved syllabus/course outline to ensure course content and learning objectives are met.
Develop course curriculum as needed.
Design, administer, and grade examinations.
Maintain student retention records by keeping accurate attendance records daily.
Post on course syllabus office hours to advise, tutor or provide student assistance as needed.
Requirements:
Current ASE Certification in A-2 Automatic Transmissions/Transaxles and A-3 Manual Drive Train and Axles.
A minimum of 5 yrs. field experience within the last 7 years working on primarily transmissions.
Experience and knowledge of Drive Train Fundamentals, On-car/Off-car Diagnosis, Unit R&R and Unit Overhaul is a must.
Ability to integrate technology into course delivery.
Previous teaching experience is not required (although preferred).
Ability to teach in a multi-cultural setting.
