Summary Statement:
Plans, directs, and coordinates the engineering design, integration, analysis and certification of company products and processes for manufacturing of complete aircraft parts, components, subsystems and complete systems. Develops and provides leadership to institutionalize the processes of Continuous Improvement in accordance with organization goals and objectives.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
  • Accomplishes results through direct reports and staff working within established organizational objectives. Performs typical responsibilities of management requiring planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating, and coaching. Work is reviewed for adequacy in meeting cost, schedule and quality objectives.
  • Manages the engineering staff related to the development of new products and maintaining the existing product lines engineering for the area of responsibility.
  • Develops initial design concepts to support new product development, customer needs and requirements and new product concepts. Manages and oversees engineering systems and hardware design teams to ensure designs meet the fit, function and certification criteria.
  • Ensures engineering specifications, drawings and other technical documents are produced to standard engineering practices and regulatory requirements. Ensures drawings, specifications and other documentation are evaluated to ensure proper fit, form and function. May read and interpret technical specifications, documents, drawings and bids.
  • Ensures engineering documents and changes are made part of the engineering change control system to control and document changes to engineering drawings, process specifications and other engineering and technical documentation.
  • Manages the development of engineering standards for hardware and other installations. Works with the regulatory agencies or designees in creating compliance and other engineering reports.
  • Coordinates with Manufacturing, Marketing, Contracts, and Quality Assurance and other groups to ensure required engineering documentation is established and maintained for each project.
  • Creates and maintains budget and schedule tracking metrics and reports progress to Engineering management. Provides guidance to teams on development, performance and productivity issues.
Ancillary Functions and Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.

Job Qualifications:
Supervisor Engineering

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum five (5) years work experience including at least one (1) year in a leadership position. in performing and/or supervising the type of work performed in the work group where they will perform the duties of a Supervisor. The experience requirements may be met through directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates for this position must be knowledgeable in the processes and procedures for the area over which supervision is exercised. Additionally, to qualify for this position a candidate also must have one (1) year of the required five (5) years experience in training, assigning and reviewing the work of lesser skilled stakeholders or have formal leadership assignments from another organization.

Standard Job Requirements:
• Must be able to read and write the English language, perform basic mathematical calculations and learn to interpret and comprehend company policies, procedures, safety instructions, and other like documents used in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
• Competent in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel and operate standard office equipment.
• Make telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and make formal presentations to small or large groups.
• Perform work of subordinates.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Stakeholder to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is regularly required to sit and talk and hear. The Stakeholder frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The Stakeholder is occasionally required to stand and walk. The Stakeholder must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to travel between facilities and operate standard office equipment. Work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week as required. Must be able to ascend and descend stairs.

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Skills and Work Requirements
Responsible for schedule and budget for any assigned projects, providing a wide range of support including shop floor mfg. issues and several major R&D projects, and guiding/mentoring junior staff members.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of aerospace composite M&P experience
  • CAD experience
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status
Preferred:
  • Catia v5 experience
  • Experience w/ FAA material certification programs
  • Experience working with aircraft OEMs
  • Functional knowledge of MS Project, Excel and Work
