Summary Statement:
Applies fundamental knowledge of basic principles, theories and concepts and standards related to the design, development, testing, manufacturing and certification of aircraft structures, component parts and related component systems and subsystems for operational aircraft.
Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:
Develops or assists in developing solutions to a variety of routine and standardized engineering or technical problems or assignments following established engineering protocols in the analysis and design of aircraft structures, power plant component parts, mechanical and electrical systems and subsystems for commercial, military, executive, general aviation, or special purpose applications on operational aircraft.
Reviews and interprets engineering documentation and product specifications to assist in determining design approaches.
Confers with more experienced engineering personnel to clarify or resolve problems. Assists in the design and development of structural, power plant and other operational and structural components that are used in operating aircraft.
This includes producing or assisting in the production of computer aided drawings and engineering reports.
Assists in developing analytical programs concerned with ground or flight testing, or development of acoustic, thermodynamic, and propulsion systems.
Assists in testing models, prototypes, subassemblies, or production items to study and evaluate operational characteristics and effects of stress imposed during actual or simulated operational conditions.
Job Qualifications:
Formal Education, Training, Professional Certification and Work Experience:
Technical Bachelor level degree in Engineering or the sciences or equivalent and zero (0) to three (3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Communication and Special Skills:
Communicate effectively using electronic media and in written and verbal forms. Make telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and make formal presentations to small or large groups. Competent in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
Skills and Work Requirements
US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required
Electrical or design engineering required. Experience in systems integration work and hands on testing.
