Summary:
Prepares transcribed reports for hand delivery, mailing and faxing to referring physicians. Handles medical records requests, mail and phone calls. Runs local errands on a daily basis upon request from Site Office Manager. Responsible for printing film from PACS and burning CDs for referring physicians and patients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sorts and prepares transcribed reports for delivery, mails and faxes reports as needed.
Follows-up when reports are unavailable and exam has been completed.
Answer incoming phone calls in a congenial manner. Insure sufficient information is obtained to respond for request for films or reports. Transmits reports via computer throughout the day.
Processes requests for sending out films (internal and external). Adheres to all RAO and HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality and proper identification of patients and/or authorized parties.
Retrieves and distributes patient medical records for medical staff review.
Researches patient accounts for schedule and make list of jackets needed from storage. Determines if the patient has had previous MRI and/or CT to serve as a comparison and prints the report. Relay the information to the technologists to send the images from the M.O.D to PACS. Pulls patient jackets for next day's scheduled appointments.
Re-files x-ray jackets previously retrieved for comparison to PACS images, ensuring proper numerical sequence
Prints film for the referring physicians who require film delivery
Burn CDs for physicians and patients as needed, utilizing PACS software and hardware.
Digitizes films utilizing Synapse software and hardware. Ensures certain images are sent electronically to PACS
Prints films from Synapse (PACS) and ensures all images are captured appropriately. Consult with lead technologists to QA complicated studies prior to printing.
Documents in the practice management system when films are released to patients to retain for their permanent records.
Informs patients of fee for reprinting films after the initial free printing. Documents the reprinting in the practice management system to assure proper collection of monies.
Delivers reports, films, CDs and patient preps in a timely manner with emphasis on courtesy and accommodation to referring physicians and their staff.
Opens incoming mail and match films for addendum reports. Matches mail requests from medical records with signed release and mail films to appropriate parties.
Operates computer, copier and fax. Assists in care and maintenance of department equipment.
Requests films from outside facilities and maintains comparison study and addendum log.
Mails reports to physicians outside of couriers region.
Mails reports to patients upon receiving authorization for disclosure
Operates company vehicle to run errands and deliveries on a specified route.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year related experience. Experience utilizing computers and software applications preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have a valid Florida Drivers License and driving record must be acceptable to RAO insurer.
