Safety and Environmental Representative/Paramedic

Job Location: Northwest Colorado (Piceance Field near Parachute, CO)

Job Summary:
This position is a Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) resource supporting drilling, completions and well intervention operations. 3 positions are opening for a project in N.W. Colorado. These are temporary positions lasting the duration of the project with the possible opportunity for full-time employment. A 14x14 schedule is preferred.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide standby medical assistance and general Safety Supervision
  • Monitoring, maintaining, and implementing HSE Management System (MS) programs to ensure compliance in accordance with all company, local, state, and federal regulations;
  • Gathering, documenting and trending leading indicator data to drive safety initiatives.
  • Performing rig inspections as well as HSE audits of third parties
  • Monitoring rig move activities
  • Conducting safety meetings
  • Creation of safety alerts and incident reports
  • Performing incident investigations
  • Conducting appropriate HSE training
Additional duties and expectations:

  • Responds to customer and external requests for HSE projects
  • Provides project management and implementation guidance for HSE issues
  • Provides guidance, regulatory interpretation, and assists with procedure development for a variety of HSE issues
  • Develops and continually expands regulatory and technical expertise
  • Participates in the development and implementation of HSE procedures
  • Encourages and facilitates information sharing and networking between company HSE functions
  • Participates in HSE auditing at BU and Asset level
  • Participates in self-audits
  • Coordinates collection and analysis of HSE metrics throughout the year
  • Assists with Business Unit goal setting.
Qualifications:
Required & Preferred Skills/Competencies

  • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA and EPA regulations as well as other local, Federal and State environmental and safety issues.

Desired Experience Level
Previous experience as HSE Specialist is preferred. Previous experience in Drilling, Completions and Well Intervention would be beneficial. H2S experience is not required, but helpful.

Special Skills, Training, & Certifications
Current Nationally Registered Paramedic

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Incumbent must have current driver's license from state of residence, and valid proof of vehicle insurance. Must possess good driving record and be insurable by Total Safety U.S., Inc. insurance providers for vehicle insurance while driving company truck.
  • Incumbent must have or be able to obtain a valid class "A" driver's license with a DOT hazardous endorsement.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required include ability to adjust focus. The incumbent must have vision correctable to 20/20, and must not be colorblind. Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move from 50 pounds up to 100 pounds.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Work will be performed in warehouse environment, industrial plants, and drilling rigs while at customer locations.

Compensation/Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with experience. As a non-exempt position, overtime of time and one-half the normal hourly rate will be paid for hours worked in excess of 40 in any given work week.
