JOB SUMMARY:
Provide quality workmanship in the cleaning, calibrating and repair of various fixed and portable gas monitoring systems, water/moisture content measuring equipment, and breathing air equipment. Candidate must be willing to work turnarounds (travel to customers site) and available for travel for short and long-term out-of-town projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide customer service in field and shop in the areas of inspecting, calibrating, servicing, cleaning, sensor change-outs and affecting minor repairs to the following categories of TSI equipment and customer owned equipment:
- Portable and fixed gas monitors;
- Water/moisture content measuring equipment;
- Breathing air equipment: Air Packs, Cascades, Trailers, Compressors
2. Develop a working knowledge of all current and life support equipment and new instruments, remaining current with new technology and industry developments.
3. Maintain active status equipment levels. Clean, calibrate and return all Total Safety owned monitoring and breathing air equipment to active status within established time frame.
4. Become and remain highly proficient with Total Safety computer system.
5. Stage customer orders, load onto trucks, and deliver to the customer’s site. Stock shelves with cleaned, tested, and ready to use equipment.
6. Develop ability to assist all life support work groups.
7. Backup supervisor for scheduling, production and sourcing parts.
8. Be knowledgeable of all regulatory standards pertaining to assigned responsibilities; i.e., State, OSHA, and NFPA regulations, etc. Be familiar with ISO 9001 guidelines.
9. Responsible for ensuring all documentation associated with assigned tasks is filled out accurately, completely, signed by customer, and turned in for proper billing & invoicing and required copies provided to the customer upon servicing of equipment. This includes all inspection documents, job cost billable expenses, time sheets, and per diem requests.
10. Maintain work area and other production areas in a clean and orderly condition.
11. Carry a valid CDL with proper endorsements.
12. Perform Site Safety Supervision for confined space entry, hole watch/bottle watch, general safety, H2S site safety, etc.
13. Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:

We are willing to train in all areas, however Experience, Education, and or Certifications in Electronics, Breathing Air Equipment, PPE, DOT, Hazwopper, First Aid, Fall Protection, is considered a plus. Refinery and/or plant experience considered a plus.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as technical procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Must read, speak, and write English at or above a high school graduate level. Ability to speak Spanish, or other second language not required, but considered a plus.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Overall good understanding of and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel Spreadsheets, Internet Software, E-mail and other data base software. Ability to quickly learn new software applications utilized by company.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Incumbent must have current driver's license from state of residence, and valid proof of vehicle insurance. Must possess good driving record and be insurable by Total Safety U.S., Inc. insurance providers for vehicle insurance while driving company truck.
Incumbent must have or be able to obtain a valid class “C” drivers license with a DOT hazardous endorsement.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required include ability to adjust focus. The incumbent must have vision correctable to 20/20, and must not be colorblind. Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move from 50 pounds up to 100 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The normal work environment will be performed in warehouse environments, industrial plants, environmental sites, oil field drilling and production sites and factories.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:
Salary is commensurate with experience, with a minimum starting range of $14.00 to $16.00 per hour. As a non-exempt position, overtime of time and one-half the normal hourly rate will be paid for hours worked in excess of 40 in any given work week.
