Performs routine and moderate to complex tests and analyzes according to established procedures in designated technical departments to aid the physician in the diagnosis and monitoring of patients. Utilizes professional judgment, knowledge, and leadership to develop new procedures or methods, educate others, improve systems, and demonstrate administrative duties in the laboratory under supervision of department coordinator. Collaborates with all members of the health care team to provide quality service to our clients.
Job Duties:
1. Utilizes skills to organize and facilitate overall function of the laboratory. Assures quality results through collection and analysis of appropriate samples. Performs complex analysis of all body fluids and/or tissue. Determine the reliability of analytical date before it can be released for patient diagnosis or monitoring. Demonstrates the ability to interpret information based on judgmental decisions for technical procedures and instruments. Utilizes available resources to maintain and fix instrumentation or problem solve issues. Monitors and performs various quality assurance functions. Must perform quality control checks on each procedure, on reagents, stains, and equipment, etc. Routinely performs documentation to maintain appropriate accreditation by regulatory agencies. Evaluates test results and provides clinical expertise to patient care staff in interpretation of results and/or complex lab problems. Assists in the training of personnel in clinical laboratory procedures, the use and operation of instrumentation, quality control procedures, record keeping, troubleshooting of instrumentation, and communication of normal and abnormal patient data in timely manner. Demonstrates ability to multi-task, detail-orientated, and work well under pressure.
Job Requirements:
Education: B.S. in Medical Technology, B.S. in related Life Science, A.S. in Medical Technology Licensure/Certification: ASCP, NCA, or AMT (preferred)
Experience: One year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting (preferred).
Interpersonal Skills: Personable and customer service oriented. Demonstrates ability to positively interact with persons of different ethnic, spiritual, moral and cultural beliefs.
