General Summary:
Under general supervision, assists in managing the daily clinical operations of the speech-language pathology department and provides speech-language pathology services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are essential job accountabilities:
1 Develops treatment plans for patients. Monitors progress and treatment level.
2 Evaluates and reviews pertinent data relating to overall treatment planning and evaluation. Administers standard evaluations and elicits information regarding existing skills and capacities.
3 Identifies appropriate treatment goals and the type of remedial activity to be used.
4 Analyzes and recommends changes for improvement in program content.
5 Administers diagnostic testing procedures to determine the extent of the client's/patient's impairment and the prognosis for improvement.
6 Assists in formulating and screening Quality Assurance criteria and providing in-service training for staff.
The following are common expectations:
7 Assists in selecting staff, trains/orients personnel, evaluates performance, prepares work schedules and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
8 Assists in developing budgets.
9 Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
10 Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, and other such reports.
11 Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
12 Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
13 Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
The following are nonessential job accountabilities for ADA purposes:
14 Responsible for the care and maintenance of department/entity equipment and supplies.
15 Attends meetings as required, and participates on committees as requested.
