Security Administrative Specialist

Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Security Specialist.
Responsibilities
Provide assistance in administering a wide range of sensitive compartmented information (SCI) security support services to the Laboratory's SCI programs and SCI accessed personnel. Process requests for background investigations, clearances and accesses. Prepare forms and follow the progress of requests through multiple government agencies. Administer personnel security information in database. Provide security compliance reviews for media, documents and other material leaving the sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF). Provide support for document transmittal and packaging. Serve as a courier for SCI material. Provide security indoctrinations to and security screening interviews of Laboratory staff members. Conduct periodic SCIF self inspections and alarm system inspections. Change locks and access control combinations. Input information into the alarm premise control unit.
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent with 5 + years of administrative work experience and 2-3 years experience in personnel, information, or industrial security. General understanding of the organizations of the US Intelligence Community and working knowledge of the responsibilities of the Agencies making up the Community. General understanding of security principles associated with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM). Excellent customer service and communication skills (written & oral); well organized, detailed oriented, self-starter. Ability to plan and support multiple activities. Strong computer and desktop application skills. Must be eligible for SCI and have ability to pass a polygraph.
Desired:
Familiarity with Director of Central Intelligence Directives (DCIDs) 6/4 & 6/9 and the Department of Defense (DoD) 5105.21-M-1
Special Work Conditions
Will be working in a closed environment; extended hours periodically required; valid state driver's license required, occasional responses required to after hour alarm activations.
Security
Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Must also be eligible for DOD clearance requiring background investigation and/or Polygraph examination. Preference for current SSBI. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.
