Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a 3D Visualization and Processing Software Developer.
Responsibilities
Development and analysis of advanced algorithms and software for lidar and imagery data registration, analysis, visualization and exploitation. Design and implement in software signal processing and visualization algorithms for lidar systems. Develop and employ computer-based analysis systems for lidar data evaluation and enhancement. Develop and employ simulation systems for evaluating lidar system performance. Participate in development of new lidar systems and data processing concepts. Document work in memoranda, sponsor briefs, conference proceedings and journal articles.
Qualifications
Required:
Masters degree in engineering, computer science, applied mathematics or equivalent. Three plus years post-degree experience in industry, consulting or academia. Experience developing algorithms and software for sensor signal processing. Strong analytical skills. Strong software development skills in C or equivalent language. Good interpersonal skills. Good speaking and technical writing skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desired:
Experience with three-dimensional data visualization using OpenGL. Strong C++ software development skills. Demonstrated ability to publish technical work in highly regarded technical journals or other technical forums. Experience with geospatial technologies and/or GIS systems. Experience with lidar analysis.
Special Work Conditions
Ability to travel in the US.
