Systems Engineer

Job Location: Laurel, Maryland

Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a {insert job title}.

Responsibilities
Provide systems engineering support to DoD, FAA and DHS sponsored programs. Guide the engineering of complex systems throughout the program lifecycle through rigorous integrated systems engineering processes. Typical tasks (with notional percentage of time) include: Assist in planning and coordination of systems engineering activities on multiple programs. Develop systems engineering documentation, including white papers, mission need assessements, requirements and architecture documents, CONOPS, functional analyses, and analysis of alternatives. Support systems engineering activities, including program planning, system design, integration, test, and evaluation activities. Prepare and present presentations for working groups and sponsors. Conduct risk, safety, and technology readiness assessments.

Qualifications
Required:

BS/ MS or equivalent in electrical engineering or a closely related discipline. 2+ years experience in systems engineering. Excellent oral and written communications skills are a must. Strong organizational skills. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, and demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-organizational team.

Desired:
MS in electrical engineering or a closely related discipline Previous experience on DoD, DHS and/or FAA programs. Experience in communications systems.

Security
