Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Geophysics Post-Doctoral Fellow.
Responsibilities
Development, analysis and testing of geophysical models for the purpose of understanding the evolution of planets and satellites, using planetary mission data as observations for constraints. Development, analysis and testing of geophysical models focusing on the effects of endo- and exogenic processes active on planets. Analysis of relevant data (topography, gravity, imaging) for comparison with model results. Development of new areas of research, mission concepts or instrumentation for purpose of furthering geophysical investigations of planets, satellites and asteroids.
Qualifications
Required:
PhD in Planetary Geophysics or related field. Excellent numerical and analytical modeling skills. Experience with analysis of geophysical (gravity, crustal thickness, tectonic structures, etc.) and imaging data sets.
Desired
Good knowledge of GIS type software (IDL, ENVI, ISIS) and image and data processing. Participation on planetary missions.
