Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Systems Engineer / Analyst.

Responsibilities

Systems engineering, configuration management, integration, and validation of new range systems proposed for support of Trident and other missile flight test launches; and performance testing and evaluation of existing range systems.

Duties include:

1) Verification, validation, and integration of new range systems including navigation, acoustic and radar RB scoring, radar tracking, telemetry, optics, and meteorological.
2) Pretest and on-site coordination of and participation in developmental tests and operational missile test launches and range systems data collection.
3) Documentation and presentation of validation plans and evaluation results as appropriate. Interaction with sponsor, military, and representatives of other government and contractor agencies.
4) Test, evaluation, and analysis of GPS translator processor based missile tracking systems, communications, navigation, and sonar systems.

Qualifications
Required:

B. S. in Electrical, Aerospace, or Systems Engineering.
Must have knowledge of RF and communications systems.
Must be able to interact effectively with individuals of different experience levels and backgrounds including external industry, government, and military personnel.
Strong communications skills both verbal and written are required.

Desired:
Experience with national or private test ranges.
M. S. in above disciplines.
Strong computer and software background.
Familiarization with PCs, Windows, MS Office, C++, Visual Basic, and PC-based engineering and drawing tools.
Knowledge of or experience with formal System Engineering concepts and GPS also desirable.

Special Work Conditions

Some travel is required; approximately six to eight trips per year from one to two weeks duration.

Security
Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.
