Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Submarine Sonar Systems Operations Analyst at DEVRON 12 in Groton CT.
Responsibilities Job Description
Work at and with Submarine Development Squadron Twelve in Groton Connecticut. Perform operational and employment evaluation efforts for submarine sonar and combat systems. Evaluation efforts will be performed through detailed acoustic analysis, event reconstruction and feedback to sponsors and Fleet users of at-sea testing and real world deployment data.
Duties
Liaison and work closely with staff of Submarine Development Squadron Twelve. Develop understanding of submarine fleet issues. Develop understanding of submarinefleet tactics, techniques and procedures, and pass understanding to the technical community. Conduct sonar systems operational analysis to determine optimum system performance against threat and allied assets. Prepare detailed briefings of results to program managers, sponsors and fleet commanders. Maintain strong skills in the employment and operations of Submarine Sonar systems to provide direct support during at sea exercises. Prepare training curriculums focusing on Systems Employment, Sensor Usage and analysis techniques.
Qualifications
Required
Possess extensive background in Acoustic Analysis, Data Collection and Event reconstruction. Possess a detailed knowledge in operational Sonar signal processing and Systems Employment for Submarine Systems. Possess strong communication, writing and presentation skills.
Desired
Possess NEC 0416, ACINT Specialist Qualification Submarine. Extensive background in all facets of submarine acoustic data acquisition, intelligence analysis and event reconstruction. Experienced in foreign submarine operations, readiness and tactics. Prepared and presented briefings at a Flag Level.

Travel
- Support underway submarine operations
- Significant air travel may be required periodically
