Position Overview: Collects specimens and independently performs waived moderately complex and highly complex laboratory testing; maintains laboratory equipment; performs clerical duties.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Independently performs waived moderate and high complexity testing (as defined by CLIA '88).
*Collects or assists in the collection of all types of specimens (blood urine sputum etc.) and processes them..
* Assists with diagnosis and billing coding (as defined by Medicare Compliance '98)
* Performs quality control testing within designated area at appropriate scheduled intervals per departmental policies and procedures.
* Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshooting at appropriate intervals per departmental policies and procedures.
* Provides in-service training or orientation to other lab personnel or students under direction of Lab Manager or Senior Medical Technologist.
* Promotes and supports all Wamego City Hospital standards of quality customer service.
* Promotes continuous quality improvement in operations and in job performance. Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree and successful completion of a Committee on Allied Health and Education (CAHEA) accredited Medical Technology program or equivalent training education and experience. ASCP certification or equivalent nationally recognized Medical Technology certification or categorical certification. Experience Requirements: None required previous generalist experience preferred.
