Position Overview: The Surgical Technician has the responsibility of insuring the presence of required instrumentation and supplies needed on the field for each surgical procedure assigned. Assist surgeon in passing of the sterile instrumentation demonstrating a full understanding of sterile technique. The Surgical Technician has an understanding of how the instrumentation is assembled and is operated. The Surgical Technician is an integral part of the surgical team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Provide surgical assistance in the scope of care of a technician and has dedicated actions regarding sterile technique.
* Collaborates with patients families and other members of the health care team.
* Promotes and supports the Standards of Performance for Wamego City Hospital.
* Promotes continuous quality improvement in operations and in job performance.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
* High School Graduate or GED
* LPN-IV Certified or RN
* BLS verification
* ACLS verification
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum one year experience in an OR setting.
Minimum one year experience in Endoscopy.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Utilizes the nursing process to deliver care to individual patients. Accepts assigned responsibilities as an accountable member of the health care team. Works cooperatively with nursing, ancillary and other patient-team personnel to maintain standards of professional nursing practice. Have ability to organize multiple activities simultaneously.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Full motility and ability to complete vigorous activities. Must be able to lift, support and move patients and equipment. Stand for long periods of time. Must be able to function under stressful situations and for extended shift hours.
