Position Overview: 
Provides effective and coordinated leadership of the Perioperative Services Department. Responsible for the staffing and maintenance of clinical competence of staff and quality care. Provide leadership and oversee the performance improvements and CQI activities. Work in a charge nurse/bed side nurse roll thus providing triage direct and indirect patient care in the perioperative services setting. Ability to work independently in a fast pace environment which requires excellent problem solving skills decision making skills communication skills and compassionate/caring bedside manner. The RN will be able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. The RN must be able to demonstrates knowledge of the human growth and development over the life span and the needs associated with infant pediatric adolescent adult and geriatric patients. Performs other duties as assigned by direct supervisor. 

• Maintains responsibility for staffing and maintenance of clinical competence of staff and  quality care.
• Provides leadership with the performance improvement and CQI activities.
• Provides comprehensive nursing care within the framework of the nursing process.
• Provides complete communication of nursing care and patient's reponse to care.
• Collaborates with patients families and other members of the health care team.
• Demonstrates clinical competence and accountability.
• Promotes and supports Wamego City Hospital Standards of Performance.
• Promotes continuous quality improvement in operations and in job performance.

Education requirements:
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas. Completion of orientation and competency checklist is required verification in BLS ACLS is required at the time within 6 months of hire. 

Experience requirements:
Two years of acute care medical and surgical experience is required. Minimum of one year Perioperative nursing is preferred. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Utilizes the nursing process to deliver care to individual and group of patients and accepts assignment responsibilities as an accountable member of the health care team. Works cooperatively with nursing ancillary medical staff and other patient-team personnel to maintain standards of professional nursing practice. 

Physical Requirements:
Full mobility and ability to participate in vigorous activities. Must be able to physically lift, support and move patients. Good visual acuity and color determination for accurate reading of test, equipment, and recording on patient charts. Must be able to effectively work under stress and coordinate several activities simultaneously.
