Job ID #: 2820 Location: US - Tennesee - Oak Ridge Functional Area: Operations Division: PIP - Advanced Measurement Technology Position Type: Full-Time Regular Education Required: Bachelors Degree Experience Required: 3 - 5 Years Relocation Provided: Yes Hours of Work:40 Travel Percentage: 0 Shift: 1st Job Description: SUMMARY: Technical Support in the Technology Department Group solves technical problems related to the development of new types of solid-state radiation detectors and the manufacturing of the detectors and develops new products.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Work closely with R&D staff members in the transfer of new detector technology to manufacturing. Pilot Line Production: after a detector technology has been developed and before it is transferred to manufacturing, a small number of devices are fabricated in response to specific orders. This position is responsible for such pilot line production. Detector Product Transfer: after a pilot line has been run successfully for a number of orders, the detector fabrication process is transferred to manufacturing. The transfer of such new technology requires that a technical staff member work closely with manufacturing personnel for some period of time. This position is the key technical person involved in such interaction and is responsible for initially tracking the yield and/or problem related to the manufacturing of such new technology. Provide technical assistance to manufacturing personnel in maintaining process control and determination of failure modes. Design and coordinate some customer or special detector orders.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: NoneEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor`s degree (BA) from four-year college or university; or four to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of possible solutions in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office software.
