The company was founded in 1960 and is based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.The Opportunity: We are seeking a highly self-motivated individual to provide software design expertise to develop new software and improve existing software. The successful candidate for this role will also develop software architecture and specifications, perform software coding, compile software, direct coding requirements of other software engineers, and provide oversight of software projects. In addition, the person will also interface with Product Line managers to define key product performance features and functionality, develop software development schedules, and serve as a key project leader when directed for new and existing product. Some of the key responsibilities of this position include: Design and implement software for an approved and assigned project or investigation which may target a new product or alternatively a major re-release of an existing product. Maintain existing software by performing necessary bug-fixes etc. Serve as a project leader for software development projects to include defining software specifications, develop software development schedules, and oversight of other software engineers assigned to project. Interact with Product line manager personal to assist in determining the viability of new products and improvements to current products. Continually improve skills through self-study and/or short course attendance.
Bachelor of Computer Science or Computer Engineering from four-year college or university (Preferably a Masters in Computer Science or Computer Engineering) A minimum of five years related experience Windows programming experience Proficiency with the following programming languages: o C++ (.Net and / or MFC) o C Sharp o Visual Basic Windows Mobile development experience Experience in multiple phases of the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) Verification and Validation Testing experience Experience in nuclear instrumentation design and development Experience with ORTEC products Proficiency with any of the following programming languages / technologies is a plus: o C# o Fortran o o InstallShield o WPF o ESRI o SilkTest o VMWare The successful candidate will have the ability to: o Read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations o Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals o Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public o Advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations o Apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis o Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions o Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
