The company was founded in 1960 and is based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.We are seeking a highly self-motivated individual to provide technical support through testing the function of electronic systems, subassemblies, parts and components according to established procedures, and using computerized or standard test equipment to ensure unit functions according to internal and published specifications and standards. Some of the key responsibilities of this position include: Read test schedule, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine testing procedures and equipment to be used. Calibrate test instruments, verify master software according to specifications. Analyze and interpret test data to ensure product meets the specifications of the associated test procedure. Connect electronic assembly, component or firmware to test equipment such as ohmeter, voltmeter, ammeter, oscilloscope, disk copier, curve tracer, multimeters, power supplies or to automatic or computerized test equipment and read instrument dial, scope, viewing screen, or digital displays. Compare results with specifications and record test data as required. Analize test results on defective units to determine cause of failure. Replace faulty components and records defects on unit history traveler. Confer with engineers, technicians, production personnel, customer service and others regarding testing/production procedures and results to improve or resolve possible current and potential problems. Perform some fabricating, processing or assembly operations as directed. Produce copies of firmware and software as directed and control software masters. May be directed to train or mentor others. Essential Functions: The ideal candidate will have: Two-year Associate degree from college or technical school and minimum of eight years of experience as an electronic technician (Without a degree, 10 years of directly related experience is required) Demonstrated initiative and ownership of area of responsibility with minimum supervision. Ability to develop test fixtures and execute testing with minimum instruction Demonstrated ability to test multiple instruments and correct to meet specifications with minimum instruction or guidance. Expertise in analog and digital circuitry and/or expertise in cross-brand instruments and/or systems. Capable of recommending technical design changes to R&D engineers to correct problems; improve efficiency; reduce cost; and/or improve performance. Demonstrated ability to multi-task multiple projects and utilize excellent prioritization skills. Demonstrated skills in communication in verbal and written form. Demonstrated ability to learn new products based on theory of operation; experience; and reasoning skills with minimum written or verbal instruction.OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be highly self-motivated and comfortable working to deadlines. Must exhibit interpersonal skills necessary to give and receive suggestions for improvement.
