Scientific Instruments serves a wide and diverse customer set providing a wide breadth of application solutions in energy, corrosion, deposition, nano-materials, materials characterization, high energy physics, low temperature physics, photonics and fundamental electrochemistry.The Opportunity (Position Description) We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Scientific Instruments Team as an Application Specialist. This position is responsible for understanding customer applications of Princeton Applied Research products and services in order to develop technical marketing and sales tools to promote sales of products. This position is also responsible to identify new product and/or application opportunities to facilitate sales growth. In addition, the person in this position will assist in providing technical information to PAR team members, distributors and/or directly to customers in order to sell products. We are also looking for someone who can utilize technical expertise to serve in assist in Product Development, Strategic and Tactical Marketing, and Alliance product management.Some of the key responsibilities of this position include: Identify and assess new products for technical feasibility and market opportunity, and provide cross-functional team leadership in the specification, development, and testing of new products and applications. Liaise between customers and development team identifying opportunities for product enhancements Advance scientific presence through: o Academic/industrial/government collaborations o Develop and write technical papers for web site and customer support o Presentations at relevant trade conferences and technical symposiums Provide technical support and training (product and applications) to internal and external customers as member of our Global Technical Team Other duties as required.
What we are looking for (Position Requirements) PhD degree in Chemistry or related science and two years minimum research experience (electrochemistry preferred) in academic or industry within the field(s) of corrosion, analytical chemistry, batteries, fuels cells, or sensors. Past publication in peer reviewed journals preferred. Member of professional society such as NACE, ECS, MRS or similar society preferred. Requires strong verbal and written English language skills to include technical writing and ability to give presentations. Successful candidate must have strong interpersonal skills with customers and company functional staff. Willingness and ability to learn new applications in electrochemistry and related fields and a passion for problem solving are critical. Position requires up to 40% travel to include international.
