Scientific Instruments serves a wide and diverse customer set providing a wide breadth of application solutions in energy, corrosion, deposition, nano-materials, materials characterization, high energy physics, low temperature physics, photonics and fundamental electrochemistry.We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Scientific Instruments Team as our Global Sales Director. This position is responsible for the sales and strategic marketing of an analytical instrument business with three brands with multiple international sites and staff selling to scientific customers globally. This position is a member of Business Unit Senior Management team. Some key highlights of this position include: Senior sales position for Business Unit and responsible for all sales activities for three brands for a multi-site global scientific instrument business with staff located worldwide. Lead and manage subordinate territory sales managers in order to achieve sales and margin targets and generate strategy for long-term success. Duties include growing share within existing markets; driving growth in adjacent or new markets; and improving margin via pricing and effective cost management. Forecast and report sales objectives and performance by month with high accuracy. Report data and analysis on product, customer, competition, funding dynamics, and territory trends in sales and pricing as needed to drive effective business management. Key role in understanding, reporting, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Establish goals and coach subordinate team members in order to accomplish objectives and continuously improve performance. Create annual and strategic plans that meet division and Corporate requirements and ensure efficient and effective execution. Coordinate sales and strategic marketing function with other functional areas and departments within Business Unit and division. Based on customer and territory knowledge, provide new product and new market ideas regularly to Business Unit management and work effectively with other departments to ensure successful launches. Develop, maintain, and continually improve direct and indirect sales channels globally. Interpret, develop, execute and ensure compliance with sales contracts; distributor and representative contracts; terms & conditions; international traffic terms; legal and regulatory compliance; and related matters. Responsible for export compliance requirements for US and UK regulatory agencies. Develop, forecast and track costs to annual budget. Identify and report on potential alliance and acquisition targets.
Undergraduate degree in scientific field (Chemistry, Physics, or Biology) or more than 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters of Science (MS) degree minimum in scientific discipline (Chemistry, Physics, or Biology) or MBA degree strongly preferred. Minimum of ten years experience in progressive sales roles to include global analytical or scientific instrument sales to PhD level end-users for research applications. Must be proficient in English in oral and written form. Bi-Lingual language skills is a plus. Must be proficient in full-suite of Microsoft Office products Must be able to travel internationally with travel frequency up to 50% Successful candidate will have strong initiative; ambition; passion for change; and record of accomplishment.
