Overview: We seek an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer interested in a rewarding career in a fast-paced, team environment. The individual will work with teams of engineers of varied disciplines to provide excellent client service, from the design concept stage through commissioning and job closeout. Note: This position will be located at our office in Greenville, South Carolina. The position will require training in our corporate office in Madison, Wisconsin for six months to one year. ACS will provide lodging and traveling. Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: - Programming/integrating PLC`s (Allen Bradley, Siemens,) and HMI`s.
- Creating Bills of Material (BOMs) and purchasing control system components.
- Creating panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and design specifications.
- Requires an understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and their associated controls including a thorough understanding of P&IDs and process controls.
- Working with other project engineers and technicians to design, set up and perform system functionality tests on equipment in our fabrication facility, and at customer sites to verify proper system operation as defined by control sequences.
Basic requirements include: - Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5-10 years of relevant experience in the design/build/programming of PLC systems with field experience, from design to start up.
- Knowledge of, and the ability to apply the National Electric Code (NEC) and UL508A as well as best practices for control panel design is required.
- A strong, proven mechanical aptitude.
- Must be able to travel (approximately 30% travel) to customer facilities for design meetings, equipment installation supervision, and commissioning.
- Field experience, from design to start-up, is required.
- Ability to relocate to Madison, Wisconsin for six months to one year.
- Self-motivated and service-oriented with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks as well as a proven record of excellent client service is a must.
