Overview:

Test & Measurement Systems Intern

We seek a Test & Measurement Systems Intern interested in a rewarding career in a fast-paced, team environment. The individual will work within a group of engineers and technicians to serve the needs of the clients and/ or engineers requesting assistance with test equipment specification, procurement, installation, and/or commissioning.

Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Review the layout of test systems and equipment with all project members and clients.
  • Ability to work with facility Designers and Test Equipment vendors to ensure requirements will be met by both the facility and equipment design.
  • Ability to work with clients and vendors to specify, procure, and manage the design/delivery of major test equipment, including instrumentation, dynamometers, data acquisition systems, and emissions equipment.
  • Ability to work with mechanical, controls, and fabrication groups to design and build custom hardware and components required to support testing projects/processes.
  • Ability to schedule and manage vendors and sub-contractors during installation and commissioning phases of test facility projects.

Basic requirements include:

  • Third or Fourth year students in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. First year Masters students preferred.
  • Experience, involvement, and/or internship experience with (automotive) product or system testing or development.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to work as a committed team member.
  • Must have the following personal skills and characteristics: Problem solving skills, strong organizational and time management skills, willingness to accept responsibility, team player, takes initiative to improve personal skills, ability to work effectively with all internal and external levels and groups.
  • Must be able to travel to customer facilities for client meetings, equipment installation supervision, and commissioning oversight. Travel may be spent on local, national, and international job sites.
