Overview:

ACS seeks a Mechanical Service Technician interested in a rewarding career in a fast-paced, team environment. The individual will work primarily at job sites with customers, service personnel and engineers to assist with mechanical equipment, systems commissioning, acceptance testing and resolving warranty issues for test equipment, facility systems and support equipment.

Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • A required commitment to travel and stay long periods at the customer sites for meetings, equipment installation supervision, start-up, factory/site acceptance testing, commissioning, and warranty resolution.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in responding to unexpected demands due to changes in work.
  • Use strong organizational skills and abilities to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines without creating workflow problems for others.
  • Identify specific work tasks, delegate work and balance work for vendors and contractors in order to meet project deadlines. Maintain good contractor and vendor working relationships.
  • Assist vendors and contractors with installation of equipment at customers site.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and perform hands on repair of mechanical systems and equipment, instrumentation (mechanical and electrical equipment, measurement devices, actuators, control systems, motor drives, pumps, valves, regulators, etc).
  • Initiate failure and root cause analysis studies of premature component failures and organize data for engineering assessment.
  • Work with engineers to perform system functional performance tests on facility mechanical systems at customer sites.
  • Assist with on-site test equipment and facilities start-up and commissioning activities. Including planning and scheduling.
  • Perform site surveys and analysis to generate field sketches to communicate issues and modifications made during installation and commissioning.
  • Ability to determine, document, review and implement maintenance procedures (including schematics, user manuals, safety practices, etc) for test equipment and facility systems.
  • Ability to train maintenance personnel in operating and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to communicate with customers to solve problems remotely or to travel to the customer site, which may or may not be outside the U.S.
  • Strict adherence to customer safety standards and regulations will be required.

Basic requirements include:

  • Two-year Associate Degree in a mechanical or machinery maintenance field.
  • Minimum 5 years hands on experience in startup performance testing and trouble- shooting practices of mechanical systems, electrical, electronic and control systems.
  • Working knowledge of PLC controls systems, including ability to troubleshoot and make programming changes.
  • Strong working knowledge of building facilities systems
    • HVAC
    • Electrical control and power circuits
    • Plumbing
    • Water Systems (cooling tower, water pumps, etc)
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and edit MEP drawings and P&IDs.
  • Basic knowledge of NEC and IEEE standards for electrical installations.
  • Proven record of excellent client service.
  • Must have the following personal skills and characteristics: Problem solving skills, strong organizational and time management skills, willingness to accept responsibility, team player, takes initiative to improve personal and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with all internal and external levels and groups.
  • Ability to work both in teams and independently.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with personal computers and programs such as Word, Excel and email. Ability to perform Internet research as needed.
