Job Summary:
The Coding Specialist is responsible for accurate, compliant, and timely coding of hospital inpatient and ambulatory surgery records. The assignment of accurate codes is required to assure appropriate reimbursement from all payer sources, compliance with all federal and state regulations, and to obtain accurate administrative data for quality and other internal and external reporting purposes. This position impacts billing, reimbursement, compliance, quality, and data reporting functions for the organization
Job Requirements:
Minimum requirements of RHIT, RHIA or eligible and/or CCS. CPC-H with relevant hospital coding related work experience may be considered. May consider those who have completed the required educational components which is a pre-requisite for RHIT and RHIA, but are not yet certified. Knowledge of and ability to apply ICD and CPT coding terminology for hospital inpatient and outpatient services. Computer skills in MSWord and Excel , HIS systems and encoder or grouper applications.
