AFL, a leading fiber optics telecommunications company has an opening for a Mechanical Design Engineering Co-op in our Duncan, SC facility.

The Mechanical Design Engineering Co-opis primarily responsible for the design and prototyping for Optical fiber assembling products within AFLs R&D Center.

 

Responsibilities included, but not limited to:

• Manufacturer initial prototypes for optical fiber assemblies.
• Create product design and tool design.
• Setup prototype processes and measurement processes.
• Setup experiments and summarize evaluation results for projects.

• Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• Mechanical design knowledge using AutoCAD and/or Solid works.
• At least a sophomore with a minimum 2.5 GPA

• Mechanical design knowledge using AutoCAD and/or Solid works.
• Detail-oriented.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Experience with statistical design of experiments, practical experimental design and set-up, and statistical results evaluation is a plus.
