Job Description

The Transport Technician IV will be a member of the EF & I Services team and will be dedicated to adhering to procedures, focused on producing the best quality service, being highly productive and mindful of costs.  The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a challenging, dynamic, team-based environment.

 

A Technician IV will be experienced in all aspects of the business. This Technician will have a certified ability in the telephony that is outside the general parameters of installation and technical expertise. She/he will be considered lead worker or `In Charge` of subordinates with a lower level index. The Technician will be responsible for the start and completion of each project; resulting in a quality, on time, profitable product that is presented to our customer. A Technician at this level will be personally responsible for maintaining his/her respective certifications unless otherwise negotiated in an employment agreement.

 

The successful candidate must meet a majority of the knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience requirements outlined below.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                                                                           

 

The Technician will be responsible for installation of total integrated voice and data systems, key systems, networks, and wireless systems including installation and maintenance of equipment, and Engineering of new projects. She/he will complete any adds, removals, changes, upgrades and maintenance to service contracts.  They will install Central Office equipment including: iron work, AC, transport equipment, and all infrastructures. Occasionally will perform outside plant installation.

Is capable of performing without supervision or direction work operations/job activities, including, but not limited to the following:

 

 

  • Addition of common systems equipment/hardware
  • Addition of wiring and connections (on non- working equipment only)
  • Lead verification
  • Analysis of job specifications and drawings
  • Provide work assignments to crew
  • Prepare the forms described in Section D and E of ATT-TP-76300
  • Resolve job specification and/or drawing problems
  • Correct office record drawings
  • In-process and final quality inspections
  • Able to communicate with AT&T on all aspects of the job throughout the duration of the job.
  • Be capable of performing as the Installation Supplier`s in-charge person
  • Familiar with AT&T quality practices and standards as directed in TP76300
  • Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

  • Strong communication and writing skills with the ability to clearly explain issues.
  • Good time management.

 

 




Skills/Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience or equivalent as determined by the Installation Supplier and demonstrated to AT&T in the equipment system/environment (e.g. common systems, switch, transport, power) being worked on.
  • Be knowledgeable in AT&T quality standards and practices (TP76300)
  • Proficient in use of computer.
