Job Description

The Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician reports to the Operations Project Manager and may be assigned to different projects as business needs dictate. The position is located at our Duncan, SC headquarters.

AFL Telecommunications, a leading global fiber optics telecommunications company has an immediate opening for an Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician.  The individual will be responsible for maintaining production equipment as well as facilities. He/She must be capable of applying their technical skills and experience to maximize equipment availability, identify causes of machine failure, and rectify those causes in a timely manner.

The successful candidate must meet a majority of the knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience requirements outlined below.

  • Possess Associate degree in electrical engineering or demonstrate equivalent experience.
  • 5 years minimum working experience.
  • Assist in installation and startup of new equipment.
  • Participate in development of equipment specifications as required for new products.
  • Read/comprehend mechanical and electrical drawings and understand: dimensions, tolerances, assembly relationships, electrical symbols and ladder diagrams.
  • Solid understanding of complex electrical circuits and machine controls.
  • Fundamental understanding of factory operations including safety, quality, production, and cost controls.
  • Solid understanding of complex symbols and machine controls.
  • Basic understanding of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) management systems to include: general safety rules, personal protective equipment, hazard recognition, behavioral based safety, incident reporting requirements, and environmental regulations.
  • Provide daily maintenance support for Doris production equipment to include preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and repair/rebuild equipment
  • Provide daily building maintenance to include HVAC, roof, and electrical systems
  • Maintain and upgrade equipment documentation.
  • Establish and lead training, development, and certification plans for production associates and engineering technicians.
  • Design and implement shop floor layouts and workflows
