Reporting to the Materials Manager, the Logistics Lead is responsible for developing and refining the strategic direction of the shipping/receiving department. This role will execute logistics strategy to meet departmental and business objectives. This is a hands-on role that will lead, develop and coordinate personnel in the inventory/shipping/receiving department. Create and maintain production schedule while responsible for on time delivery to customers. This role will also be responsible for material flow, shipping /receiving and inventory while focusing on continuous improvements and building a strong logistics team.

 

 

  • Lead the shipping/receiving department and warehouse, execute strategy and programs to continuously improve company distribution and customer service
  • Maintain departmental and organizational ability to support the needs of the business.
  • Identify, propose and structure creative solutions for company business plan by working in collaboration with functional teams including Supply Chain, Sales, Engineering, Customer Service and Program Management
  • Hands on role to assist with:

 

o   Create shipping documents; Domestic and International

o   Create and maintain production schedule

o   Packaging of material to be shipped as required

o   Track and Maintains on time delivery to customer

o   Planning orders and shortage review

o   Filling orders, material shortages, kitting production & sales order 

o   Responsible for Kitting, ensure completion is on time and in with Takt Time.

o   Responsible for Inventory Accuracy & Cycle Count completion

o   Perform inventory transactions utilizing ERP system.

o   Maintain proper levels of  stock to include: locations, levels, and items

o   Responsible to organize, maintain, and improve stockroom and shipping department

o   Assisting and backing up all positions within the Materials Group

o   Track update and monitor metrics are required

o   Root cause analysis. Research inventory discrepancies.

  • Business Process Improvement / Continuous Process Improvement

 

o   Support quality programs and continuous improvement methodology to drive business process improvement

o   Drive best practices in area operations in alignment with Division Logistics standards including leveraging Lean and Six Sigma processes

o   Assist local operations in identifying and prioritizing logistics initiatives

o   Identify and implement cost improvement opportunities

o   Identification of inventory improvement initiatives

o   Monitor to ensure area operational  compliance with best practices and processe

  • Maintain 6S in work area
  • Completes tasks in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Complete required ERP/computer transaction and reports
  • Operate material handling equipment as required
  • Must be knowledgeable in the effective use of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) tools and concepts to assist in process improvements, both within AFL, and externally at our customers/suppliers.
  • Serve as an active participant in LSS programs that promote continuous improvement.
  • EHS and Safety knowledge and compliance
  • Must adhere to all company policies and safety rules
  • Process Improvement Oriented, Initiate & Complete Corrective Actions Plans, Process Change Orders.
  • Create and Maintain documentation for responsible area.
  • Attention to detail in all tasks required for the job.
  • Exemplify leadership by effectively interfacing and directing others.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area
  • All other duties as assigned

 

 

 

 




Skills/Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Lean, Six Sigma and Warehouse Management System experience required.
  • Proficiency in Excel. Oracle experience preferred.
  • Candidate must possess excellent analytical skills combined formal process development in order to make and support critical business decisions.
  • Ability to conceptualize, develop and subsequently implement best practices organization wide
  • 5+ years of relevant experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively coordinate multiple tasks and changing priorities/ interruptions.
  • Desired: Extensive inventory and shipping experience with international knowledge.
  • Desired: Previous leadership role and ability to coordinate others.
