JOB DESCRIPTION: Temporary to Direct Hire Position The Materials Handler will be a member of the Network Services EF & I team and will be responsible for safely performing general warehouse duties which include but are not limited to receiving, staging, packaging, and delivery of the product to and from the Customer job site. He/She must be diligent in adhering to procedures, focused on producing the best quality products, being highly productive and mindful of costs. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a challenging, dynamic, team-based environment. He/She will be accountable for meeting safety, quality, and production goals in support of our customers and business plan. The position is located at our Monroe, NC distribution facility which operates on a Monday Friday schedule. The successful candidate will have a blend of the knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience requirements outlined below. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: - Handle, Inspect & Receive and Stage material.
- Must be able to drive forklift.
- Delivery of goods to and from customer site.
- Operation of up to 26` commercial straight truck may be required.
- Depending on skill set computer processing may be required.
- Computer software will comprise of Great Plains inventory module as well as AFL Materials Management System. Microsoft Outlook and Excel are also used on a daily basis.
- Maintain assigned work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
- Assist other operators with machine set-up and operation as needed.
- Document and report quality issues.
- Complete assigned preventative maintenance tasks on time.
- Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL.
- Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / COMPETENCIES - Self-starter with integrity and confidence who strives to achieve even the most challenging environments with limited supervision.
- Able to comprehend and follow work instructions, apply basic math, and use handheld measurement devices.
- Team player with well-developed interpersonal skills who is comfortable in a cross-functional, multi-cultural environment.

Skills/Requirements REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE - High school diploma or GED.
- Valid drivers license and clean motor vehicle record.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment assessments, background & reference checks.
- Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
- Current or prior certification in forklift operation a plus.
Physical demands: - Job involves sitting, standing, walking and lifting for periods of time throughout the day
- Able to pass pre-employment physical / drug screen and ongoing random drug screens.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly on a daily basis.
- Personal protective equipment requirements:
- Steel toes shoes must be worn at all times.
- Significant temperature swings as facility has no air-conditioning and limited heating
